Configure TV and Devices for Best Audio

DRAGON is compatible with a wide range of popular audio formats, such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. However, it is crucial to acknowledge that TVs and content devices may not come preconfigured to output audio at the highest quality.

In addition, if you have connected your TV and content devices to a sound system previously, performing an HDMI refresh is essential to establish a fresh HDMI handshake and ensure connection stability.

Enhance connection stability and audio quality on your devices by following these steps:

Step 1: Establish a fresh HDMI connection between TV, DRAGON, and content devices

  1. Disconnect all HDMI cables connected to TV and content devices.

  2. Leave devices unplugged from power for 5 minutes.

Step 2: Connect DRAGON to TV

  • Connect DRAGON to TV via HDMI eARC/ARC port for best TV audio using the bundled Nakamichi HDMI 2.1 cable.

  • Power ON TV and all DRAGON components.

  • Under your TV’s audio settings, locate Digital Audio Output and select Bitstream / Pass-through.

(For instructions specific to your TV’s interface, visit our device settings page.)

  • Verify that audio output has been configured correctly by playing Dolby Atmos content from Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Disney+. Note that only specific movie titles are Dolby Atmos-enabled, as indicated by the Dolby Atmos badge on the information listing.

  • While Dolby Atmos content is playing, press the INFO button on your DRAGON remote to verify the audio format being received. If DRAGON's main unit display shows “DOLBY ATMOS DD+”, your TV’s audio settings are good to go!

Step 3: Connect content devices to DRAGON and TV

  • Connect gaming consoles, streaming devices and Blu-ray players to DRAGON HDMI inputs (HDMI 2, 3 and 4).

  • Connect satellite cable TV boxes to TV HDMI input (if any).

  • Navigate to your device's audio settings. Locate Audio Format and select Dolby Atmos / Best Available / Auto / Bitstream.

(For instructions specific to your TV’s interface, visit our device settings page.)
