Maximize the Performance of your Surround Speakers and Subwoofers

While countless hours have been invested into meticulously fine-tuning DRAGON to achieve the best sound quality, the actual listening experience may vary depending on the acoustics of your room environment and speaker placements. Here are some tips:

Maximizing Performance of Surround Speakers:

  1. Ensure each speaker is placed either behind or beside your couch. Point the speaker towards your listening area.

  2. Rotate the PerfectHeight mechanism at the top of each surround speaker such that it directs height effects toward the center of your listening area.

  3. Ensure you receive multi-channel surround formats from your content (e.g. Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby Digital Plus, LPCM 7.1 / 5.1, etc.). Visit our device settings page to apply the best audio settings for your TVs and content devices.

  4. Verify that your content delivers multi-channel surround formats, such as Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Atmos, etc. For Music/Stereo 2.0 content, select All Ch Stereo to upmix audio to both surround speakers.

  5. Optimize surround sound, height effects and bass output by using Room Size Calibration, which allows DRAGON to take into account your wall proximity, ceiling height and each speaker’s distance to the listening area.

  6. Optimize volume balance using Volume Level Calibration to increase/decrease rear surround speakers output.

Maximizing Performance of Subwoofers:

For systems with 2 subwoofer cabinets: Place subwoofer cabinets either at the front corners of the room or in between your TV and listening area. See recommended subwoofer placement locations.

For systems with 2 x 12” Subwoofer cabinets only: Press “🏠 HOME" to access the OSD. Under the System Tab, select ‘Subwoofers Manual Pairing’. Ensure the configuration type is set to ‘12” Subs Only’.

Use a combination of these settings to suit your listening preferences:

  1. Adjust the bass output level and number of active subwoofers using your remote control to suit personal preference.

  2. Change EQ to Movie/Music 2 or 3. Press the Movie/Music EQ button on your remote twice/thrice.

  3. Set the subwoofer crossover frequency to your preference.

    • Press “🏠 HOME" to access the OSD.

    • Under the Audio tab, select 'Advanced Audio Settings'. Lower the subwoofer crossover frequency (default is 200Hz).

  4. Use ‘Volume Level Calibration’ to further adjust the level of the subwoofers.

    • Press “🏠 HOME" to access the OSD.

    • Navigate to the Calibration tab.

    • Select 'Advanced Sound Setup' > 'Volume Level Calibration'.

    • Scroll down. Under 'SUBWOOFERS', press ◀️/ ▶️ on your remote to adjust the volume of each connected subwoofer type. (Default: 7).

  5. Lower the volume level of Low-Frequency Effects (LFE).

    • Press “🏠 HOME" to access the OSD.

    • Under the Audio tab, select 'Subwoofers Setup'.

    • Under 'Low-Frequency Effect', lower the volume level to your preference.

  6. Further optimize room placement.

    • Loop familiar content with a consistent bass line. Try shifting your subwoofers away from the corners of your room one inch at a time and observe if bass performance improves.

  7. Use ‘Room Size Calibration’ to input each speaker’s distance to the listening area to optimize bass output to the room environment.
